Working Groups
In November 2003, IBIA created four member working groups to serve a means for every member of the association to personally participate in achieving IBIA's objectives.

Education, Marketing, and Messaging Working Group
Chairperson: David Johnston, AOptix Technologies
Purpose: To grow the biometric industry through marketing, technology education, and case studies of applications. The aim will be to increase exposure of IBIA member companies through a multifaceted education and marketing campaign.


Global Policy and Advocacy Working Group
Chairperson: Frances Zelazny, L1 Identity Solutions
Purpose: To educate decisionmakers and government officials worldwide about biometric applications and solutions.


International Markets and Liaison Working Group
Chairperson: Christer Bergman, WCC
Purpose: To serve as the outreach arm of IBIA in order to forge relationships with other key biometric organizations worldwide.


Standards and Technology Working Group
Chairperson: Tim Brown, L1 Identity Solutions
Purpose: To advocate the vital common interests of IBIA’s members with respect to standards for biometrics and systems that incorporate biometrics. To produce technical position papers that set forth best practices for implementing biometrics in order to ensure effective performance.


Consumer Application Working Group
Chairperson: Frank Biscardi, AuthenTec
Purpose: To educate and increase awareness of the growing market presence of biometrics in consumer products and to support policies and standards that are appropriate for these consumer applications.


Membership and Recruitment Working Group
Chairperson: Peter O'Neill, findBiometrics
Purpose: To educate and increase awareness of the growing market presence of biometrics in consumer products and to support policies and standards that are appropriate for these consumer applications.
